holmes is physically fit.
he doesn’t like to exercise for excercise’s sake, but he does enjoy boxing, swimming and singlestick/fencing.
despite his smoking habit, his constant abstinence from food, and lack of proper sleep schedule, he does live, by the victorians’ standards, a long time.
life expectency back then ranged from 30-50, with 50 being on the v. rare side. holmes, assuming he was born in 1857 ( for reasons that is too long to explain in between these brackets ) and retired in 1903-4, he would have been around 46-ish.
he’s ancient.
he must have been at least very physically fit and healthy in order to survive that long. he’s surprisingly strong ( SPEC: unbending an iron poker pretzel ) and his running pace is at least twice that of watson’s.
he’s a rather healthy man ovo
